Selva/Jungle

Peru has the second largest portion of the Amazon rain forest after the Brazilian Amazon, it covers more than 60% of Peru's territory. This is in the east side of the Andes, yet only 5% of Peruvians live in this area.
Peru's share of the Amazon rainforest is considered to be one of the best preserved in its "virgin" state, with an incredible biodiversity that holds over 70% of the living species of the planet. The selva is characterized by heavy rainfall and high temperatures. Temperature averages 29 degrees.
